14/ Khasawneh: Cairo tripartite summit 'key' to support Palestinian cause
Amman, Apr. 8 (Petra) – First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Dr. Mustafa Khasawneh, stressed the importance of the tripartite summit that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and French President Emmanuel Macron. The lawmaker pointed to the "strong" messages affirmed during the press conference and joint statement. Speaking at "From Egypt" Show, moderated by journalist Amr Khalil on the Cairo News Channel, Khasawneh noted His Majesty and Egyptian president underlined their "firm" rejection of forced displacement and the necessity of implementing the two-state solution. Khasawneh indicated that this formula is the "permanent and just" way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which was emphasized at the summit. The MP also stated the "shared and unwavering" Jordanian-Egyptian positions reflect the two countries' commitment to adopting a "unified" stance on the Palestinian issue. In this context, he referred to the efforts aimed to halt violence and machine of destruction in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Khasawneh stressed the three countries' shared stance on the need to halt military operations in Gaza and resume the ceasefire agreement, adding that this vision reflects a "strong" position in supporting Palestinian rights. Khasawneh said the common Arab positions should be invested to serve interest of the Palestinian cause, which would contribute to achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region. This meeting, he noted, comes within the framework of the three countries' ongoing diplomatic efforts, led by His Majesty and Egyptian and French leaders, which have produced a "tangible" impact on political decisions at the European level. A just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, which establishes a free and independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, represents the primary goal of these intensive diplomatic efforts, "actively" led by the three countries, he pointed out. //Petra// AG
