10/ Aqaba Unveils New Identity to Boost Tourism, Investment, and Community Development
Aqaba, April 10 (Petra) -- Aqaba is stepping into a new era of tourism and investment as the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) unveiled its new city identity, marking a significant milestone in its strategic vision to position the coastal city as a global hub for both sectors. Following a series of participatory consultations with local communities and various sector stakeholders, ASEZA’s Board of Commissioners approved the new identity, set for launch in the coming months. This move aims to elevate Aqaba’s profile, aligning with the royal vision and ASEZA’s broader strategy to transform the city into a premier integrated destination for investment and tourism. In a parallel move to bolster the city’s investment landscape, the board also approved the lease of 300 dunums of land to a mining-focused investment company, contingent on the establishment of a specialized factory in Aqaba. This initiative is designed to create employment opportunities for youth and foster the growth of local industries, furthering ASEZA’s commitment to attracting investments with strategic incentives. Urban development plans also made progress with the approval of a land allocation for a waste disposal site in the Al-Qweira district. This decision is part of ASEZA’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life in the area, tackling waste management issues and preventing the random disposal of waste by providing a controlled site adjacent to the existing landfill facilities. The council also pledged support to a local animal welfare organization to help address the growing issue of stray dogs in Aqaba. The goal is to offer the necessary resources for the safe collection and care of these animals, removing them from public spaces and ensuring their welfare. Rounding off a series of bold decisions, ASEZA approved the sponsorship of a young entrepreneur from Aqaba to participate in the 2025 Jordan International Rally. This marks the first local entry in international rally races and serves to spotlight Aqaba’s commitment to empowering its youth, as well as promoting the city as a vibrant destination for global sporting events. //Petra// RZ
