5/ Foreign Minister Chairs Arab League Council Session in Cairo
Cairo, April 23 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi began an official visit to Cairo on Wednesday, where he is chairing the 163rd ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level. Jordan assumed the presidency of the session, which coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Arab League. Following the conclusion of the session, Safadi is scheduled to hold a joint press conference with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit to outline the outcomes of the ministerial discussions. As part of his engagements in Cairo, Safadi will also preside over the ninth meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with advancing international efforts to counter Israel’s illegal policies and practices in occupied Jerusalem. The meeting will take place ahead of the Council’s formal session and will focus on coordinated diplomatic initiatives to address violations in the city. During the visit, Safadi is holding a series of bilateral meetings with fellow Arab foreign ministers to discuss regional developments and explore avenues to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation. //Petra// RZ
