65/ Voices of the Reef exhibition opens at Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts

Amman, April 23 (Petra) – HRH Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, President of the Royal Society of Fine Arts, on Wednesday evening inaugurated the "Voices of the Reef" exhibition at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman.

Swiss Ambassador to Jordan, Emilija Georgieva, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which will run until May 14 at Building 2 of the museum.

The exhibition spotlights the resilience of coral reefs in the Gulf of Aqaba often referred to as "Reefs of Hope" for their unique resistance to rising sea temperatures.

Organized by the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Amman and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), the exhibition showcases works by 11 artists from Jordan and Switzerland who participated in the first season of the multi-year Voices of the Reef project. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the beauty of coral reefs and the critical need to protect them.

The show features 92 artworks created during an artist residency held in Aqaba in May 2024. As part of the residency, the artists were invited to dive and explore the coral reefs of the Red Sea, drawing inspiration from this vibrant marine ecosystem to produce new, original works.
