16/ Jordanian, Iraqi Parliament Speakers Reaffirm Bilateral Ties in Baghdad Meeting
Amman, April 24 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Ahmed Safadi met with his Iraqi counterpart Mahmoud Mashhadani on Thursday at the Iraqi Parliament headquarters in Baghdad, where both sides underscored the strength of Jordanian-Iraqi relations and emphasized the need to reject divisive rhetoric. Safadi highlighted the longstanding ties between Jordan and Iraq, describing parliamentary exchanges as a means to deepen cooperation and translate shared visions into tangible outcomes that benefit both nations. He affirmed Jordan’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various sectors. Safadi also stressed Jordan’s recognition of Iraq’s pivotal role in regional security and stability, noting that continuous coordination is vital to advancing mutual interests and maintaining regional cohesion. For his part, Mashhadani reaffirmed Iraq’s strong relationship with Jordan and expressed his country’s desire to expand bilateral cooperation across political and economic fields.
