17/ Jordan Stresses Regional Stability, Humanitarian Support in Meetings with French, Georgian Delegations

Amman, April 24 (Petra) – Chairman of the Senate's Arab, International, and Expatriates Affairs Committee, Hani Mulki, held separate meetings Thursday with a delegation from the French Senate's Group for Communication, Reflection, Monitoring, and Solidarity with the Christians of the Levant, and another delegation comprising heads of several Georgian parliamentary committees.

Mulki discussed key political and economic developments in the region, including the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip. He highlighted Jordan’s regional role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in promoting peace, security, and stability.

He also expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, warning of the grave consequences of halted aid supplies on civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly. Mulki underscored Jordan’s historic and ongoing responsibility as the Hashemite Custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and reiterated the Kingdom’s support for the sovereignty and stability of Syria and Lebanon.

Emphasizing the importance of international cooperation, Mulki called for ongoing dialogue and coordination with global partners on shared concerns, including the protection of minority rights in the region.

Members of both delegations commended Jordan’s balanced foreign policy and pivotal regional role. They voiced appreciation for Jordan’s efforts to mediate a ceasefire in Gaza, its humanitarian leadership, and its longstanding commitment to hosting refugees.

They also expressed interest in expanding bilateral cooperation with Jordan across various sectors, particularly in parliamentary, economic, cultural, health, and tourism.
