36/ Social Development Minister, Arab Parliament member discuss cooperation in social services
Amman, April 24 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Thursday met with Khadija Hajoubi, Vice-Chair of the Social Committee in the Arab Parliament and a member of the Moroccan House of Representatives, to discuss avenues for enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in the field of social work and the services extended to target groups. The meeting, which was also attended by Senator Ihsan Barakat, touched on the ministry’s efforts to safeguard and care for the most vulnerable segments of society, including orphans, individuals without family support, and juveniles. Bani Mustafa outlined the ministry’s key programs and services, particularly those focused on women’s economic empowerment, in line with national strategies aimed at increasing female participation in the labor market, improving household living standards, and bolstering productivity. She also highlighted the ministry’s work to professionalize the field of social work following the completion of the legislative frameworks governing the sector. This initiative seeks to enhance the quality of services by equipping social workers and caregivers with the requisite skills and training to meet the needs of various social groups. Senator Barakat commended the ministry for the high standard of services it delivers to vulnerable communities and for its efforts to economically empower families.
