Amman, April 26 (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi conveyed the wishes of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani during a visit to Erbil, part of an official visit to Iraq.

Barzani stressed the deep and brotherly relations between Jordan and Iraq and thanked Jordan for its support of Iraq's security and stability. He urged closer cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan.

Safadi stressed the need to further enhance relations to achieve common Jordanian-Iraqi interests, and called for removing any obstacles to economic relations.

He said Jordanian-Iraqi relations have a long history of joint action to serve Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

The meeting was attended by Jordanian Consul General to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Fuad Majali.
