31/ Culture Minister opens new arts center in Aqaba

Aqaba, April 26 (Petra) – Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh on Saturday inaugurated the Aqaba Arts Center, aimed at promoting cultural awareness and enhancing aesthetic values in society.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Rawashdeh said the center would contribute to achieving the ministry’s goals of fostering cultural and artistic engagement.

Rawashdeh said the center will focus on developing the skills of talented individuals and those interested in creative arts, polishing their talents, and supplying the art sector with qualified graduates capable of promoting beauty and creativity.

He noted that the center’s training programs are designed to enhance youth skills in various artistic fields through structured and constructive curricula, urging young people to take advantage of the free programs supervised by the ministry.

The center offers free services in music, visual arts, and Arabic calligraphy, in line with the Ministry of Culture’s 2024–2027 strategy and the country's economic modernization plan.

Rawashdeh emphasized that the ministry is prioritizing programs that integrate culture into community life, focusing on strengthening cultural infrastructure and creating spaces dedicated to arts, creativity, and cultural industries.

Jordan’s main Arts Training Center was established in the capital, Amman, in 1966 to support the development of the national arts movement.

The ceremony was attended by Aqaba Governor Khaled Hajaj, President of the Governorate Council Harb Owaidat, Acting Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture Maher Nafash, and Director of the Amman Arts Center Hussein Dughaimat.
