27/ Plan to 'feminize' teaching staff in Jordan's boy schools up to 6th grade: Education Ministry
Amman, April 27 (Petra) - Ministry of Education said the decision to "feminize" teaching staff in Jordan's boy schools up to the 6th grade aims to improve children's academic achievement. In a statement Sunday, the ministry cited recent studies that showed a "significant" improvement in student attitudes by 73.5 percent, when early grades are taught by female teachers, compared to other methods. The ministry added that the presence of women staff in the teaching staff in early grades provides a "safer" learning environment and psychological support for students. "Compassion and kindness of female teachers contribute to expanding the sense of safety, love of learning, and belonging to the school, especially in the first basic stage, " the ministry pointed out. On its scope, the ministry indicated that the decision will include 123 schools across the Kingdom. The ministry stated the "feminization" process will be implemented by the existing female teachers, announcing plans to appoint new women staff if necessary, as the decision is scheduled to be implemented at the beginning of the next academic year. The ministry indicated that male teachers will be assigned to carry out administrative and support positions in schools and educational directorates. In the minister's official letter sent to Director of Education, instructions were given to transfer teaching and administrative staff to implement the new scheme, compensate for schools' staff shortage and list amendments in the school-based appointments for the 2025-2026 academic year. //Petra// AG
