Amman, April 27 (Petra) -- The Eastern Military Region thwarted a drug smuggling attempt involving a drone on Sunday evening within its operational area, a military source reported.

"The Border Guard Forces in the Eastern Military Region, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, intercepted a drone attempting to illegally cross the border with a cargo of drugs," the source added.

The source explained that the drone was monitored and tracked, with its cargo being dropped inside Jordanian territory. The seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.

The source emphasised that the Jordanian Armed Forces are committed to utilising all their capabilities and resources to counter all forms of infiltration and smuggling operations.
