41/ Jordan University's School of Medicine publishes 561 research papers in 2024

Amman, April 27 (Petra) President of the University of Jordan, Nathir Obeidat, on Sunday inaugurated the School of Medicine’s Fifth Scientific Day, attended by vice presidents, deans, deputy deans, faculty members, and the director general of the University Hospital.

In his opening remarks, Obeidat praised the contributions of medical students, saying their efforts had placed the school at the forefront of the university's schools and among the top locally and regionally. He noted that requiring students to prepare research papers a decision once approached with apprehension had proven fruitful, with the School of Medicine now accounting for 30% of all research published in indexed global journals by the university.

Obeidat urged students to master global languages, develop digital and soft skills, and adhere to the ethical standards of the profession, emphasizing that medicine is a noble mission for all nations.

Dean of the School of Medicine, Ayman Wahbeh, highlighted that school members published 561 research papers in 2024, marking a 21% increase from the previous year, thanks to a supportive academic environment and continued university leadership backing.

Wahbeh also pointed out that medical students produced 196 research projects, of which 53 were published and 10 accepted for publication, with the remainder under review, demonstrating the high quality and growing research spirit among students.

Assistant Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs Marzouq Amareen said the students' research output reflected a generation that does not merely consume knowledge but actively contributes to its production, development, and application to patient care and societal benefit.

Amareen reaffirmed the school's commitment to promoting scientific research not merely as an academic requirement but as a means for deeper understanding, critical thinking, and genuine readiness for evidence-based medical practice.

Obeidat also presented honorary shields to students with the highest number of published research papers, faculty members, organizing students, and administrative staff.

The Scientific Day included several sessions during which student research was discussed and outstanding researchers were honored based on faculty peer reviews.
