37/ 65,000 cases of severe malnutrition admitted recently to Gaza hospitals

Gaza, April 28 (Petra) The Government Media Office in Gaza said on Monday that the suffocating blockade and ongoing closure of border crossings have led to a catastrophic deterioration in health conditions and a sharp rise in acute malnutrition cases, particularly among children and infants.

In a statement, the office reported that more than 65,000 cases of severe malnutrition have been recorded at the remaining hospitals and medical centers, out of 1.1 million children in Gaza who are suffering from daily hunger.

It strongly condemned what it described as an organized crime committed by Israeli forces against unarmed civilians, especially children, accusing Israel of using starvation and thirst as systematic weapons of war aimed at extinguishing life in Gaza, in blatant violation of international and humanitarian laws and norms.

The office held Israel fully responsible for the worsening humanitarian catastrophe and for endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands of children, women, and the elderly due to the lack of food, medicine, and water. It also blamed the international community and its institutions for remaining silent and failing to take deterrent action to hold Israeli leaders accountable.

The office called for the immediate and unconditional reopening of all crossings to allow the entry of humanitarian aid, including food supplements, medicines, and medical supplies, especially for children and patients, to save lives and halt the catastrophic humanitarian collapse.
