40/ APC signs MoU with Ukraine’s Craft Mineral to expand European market presence

Amman, April 28 (Petra) The Arab Potash Company (APC) signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine’s Craft Mineral LLC, marking a new step in APC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its footprint and expand operations in the promising European market.

According to a company statement on Monday, the agreement was signed by APC CEO Maen Nsour and Kraft Mineral’s representative Vadym Kulyk, during a visit by a delegation of Ukrainian agricultural companies to Jordan.

The agreement crowns three years of fruitful cooperation between the two companies, which helped facilitate the successful export of Jordanian potash to the Ukrainian market amid ongoing challenges to the country’s supply of essential fertilizers.

APC’s market share in Ukraine has seen significant growth, reaching around 37% in 2024 after being nearly absent before 2022.

Chairman of APC’s Board of Directors, Shehadah Abu Hdaib, said the move aligns with the company's ambitious strategy to boost its market share in Europe, a region of strategic importance. He emphasized that expanding into Europe will positively impact APC’s financial performance and Jordan’s trade balance with European countries.

He noted that APC has already taken tangible steps to achieve this goal, including the establishment of "Arab Potash Company – Europe," a logistics and trading subsidiary launched last year to oversee sales, shipping, storage, handling, and redistribution across Europe.

Nsour explained that APC’s strategy over the past three years has focused on securing a strong position in the European market to balance its sales, diversify revenue streams, and mitigate risks stemming from intense competition and geopolitical instability in traditional markets such as the Black Sea region and the Middle East.

He stressed that the company’s growing success in Europe stems from its deep understanding of customer requirements, its ability to develop tailored products, and its investment in innovative logistics solutions that have enhanced its reach to a broader customer base.

He noted that service to customers in Eastern Europe especially in the Baltic states and Poland is primarily supported through APC’s storage facilities in Belgium and the Netherlands. These facilities also serve medium- and small-sized clients across river ports in Britain, Ireland, France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Northern Europe, contributing to some of the company's highest returns.

Today, Europe has become APC’s largest market, with sales exceeding 500,000 tons in 2024, significantly boosting its profits and financial results over the past year.

Looking ahead, APC plans to intensify its activities in Europe through its subsidiary, "Arab Potash Company Europe," by expanding its current storage capacity and establishing new distribution centers across various European countries, in collaboration with the Arab Fertilizers and Chemicals Industries Company (KEMAPCO), solidifying its leadership in this vital market.
