  9/  Armed Forces Foil Drug Smuggling Attempt on Eastern Border

Amman, April 28 (Petra) –The Eastern Military Zone early Monday carried out a successful operation to thwart a large-scale drug smuggling attempt along its border, intercepting narcotics coming from Syria.

According to a statement from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army, border guard units, working closely with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, tracked a group of smugglers attempting to illegally cross into Jordan from Syria. Quick response patrols were deployed, and rules of engagement were enforced, resulting in several smugglers being injured, while others fled back into Syrian territory.

Following the operation, an intensive search of the area led to the discovery of significant quantities of drugs, which were seized and handed over to the appropriate authorities.

The source emphasized that the Jordanian Armed Forces remain fully committed to utilizing all available resources to prevent smuggling and infiltration, ensuring the safety and security of the Kingdom.
