13/ Internal Medicine Society Launches 19th International Conference in Amman
Amman, April 29 (Petra) – The 19th International Conference of the Jordanian Society of Internal Medicine is set to commence on Wednesday in the capital, Amman, under the patronage of former Prime Minister Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh. According to a statement issued by the Society on Tuesday, the conference is being held in partnership with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, continuing a longstanding collaboration that began in 2006. The event aims to advance continuing medical education, update Jordanian physicians on the latest developments in disease diagnosis and treatment, and facilitate the exchange of expertise between local and international professionals from both the public and private sectors. Over the course of three days, medical specialists from various countries will present scientific papers on a wide range of internal medicine subfields, including the digestive system, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology, endocrinology, diabetes, rheumatology, hematology, oncology, radiology, and infectious diseases. Conference Chairperson Nayef Abdallat said the Association takes pride in its contributions to the Jordanian medical profession and health sector, crediting the progress to pioneering physicians whose innovations have helped establish Jordan as a regional leader in healthcare and medical tourism. He highlighted ongoing efforts to preserve these achievements and build upon them by equipping medical personnel with the latest knowledge and skills, thereby improving the quality of healthcare services and enhancing Jordan’s global competitiveness in the sector. Abdallat noted that the conference provides Jordanian physicians with a platform to deliver lectures and showcase the Kingdom’s medical advancements, with 60 lectures scheduled. He reiterated the importance of the conference in promoting continuing medical education and keeping local professionals abreast of scientific breakthroughs in internal medicine. Meanwhile, Mohammad Ghneimat, President of the Arab Society of Internal Medicine Specialists, stressed the significance of the annual event, describing it as an essential forum for physicians to exchange expertise and gain insights into the latest treatment methodologies in the field.
