18/ Workshop Highlights Role of Media in Promoting Women's Issues, Rights
Amman, April 29 (Petra) – The Sisterhood is Global Institute (JSIGI) in Jordan on Tuesday held a workshop as part of its (SAWETT) or Vote project, which seeks to enhance the participation of women and youth in public and political life. The initiative is supported by the Dutch Rutgers Foundation. The two-day event brings together a group of male and female journalists representing various print, audio, and visual media platforms, with the aim of strengthening media skills related to covering women’s issues and fostering experience-sharing among participants to generate impactful and informed content. The workshop’s first day focused on developing media strategies to present and support women’s issues through both traditional and digital platforms, while adhering to national legal and regulatory frameworks. Participants also worked on building a digital media identity for women’s issues. The second day addresses the essential skills required for media engagement with rights-related issues, including how to craft news stories that challenge gender stereotypes and analyze the role of media and social influences in shaping such narratives. Attendees are also discussing the challenges journalists face in covering women's rights and are offering insights and recommendations to enhance the quality of investigative and human rights-focused reporting. //Petra// AJ
