30/ Minister Highlights Youth Role in Advancing Shared Arab Values, Political Engagement
Amman, April 29 (Petra) – Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Moneim Odat on Tuesday underlined the importance of fostering cultural exchange among Arab youth and promoting the shared values and principles that unite them. Speaking at the opening of the 8th International Youth Camp, held under the title "Bridges of Peace Between Individuals and Societies," Odat stressed that youth play a fundamental role in advancing prosperity within Arab societies and that their involvement in political life is essential to ensure they are active partners in shaping decisions that impact their present and future. He noted that Jordan was founded upon the values of the Great Arab Revolt, its enduring principles, and its national renaissance project. He affirmed that the Amman Message articulates the Kingdom’s commitment to justice, equality, and coexistence, and rejects all forms of discrimination and extremism. Odat added that these principles guide Jordan’s continued efforts to promote peace and stability regionally and globally, emphasizing that His Majesty King Abdullah II serves as the voice of Arab conscience in international forums. He stressed that peaceful coexistence among societies is rooted in the recognition of every individual's right to a dignified life, highlighting the need to build bridges of communication between Arab and international youth. He also called for continued positive dialogue to promote common values across cultures and civilizations and to counter prevailing stereotypes about intellectual and cultural beliefs. The minister reiterated Jordan’s firm and unwavering position in support of just Arab and Islamic causes, particularly the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. He affirmed that His Majesty the King's adherence to the two-state solution stems from a belief in legitimate, legal, and moral rights that cannot be relinquished. For his part, Khaled Jazi, Director of the Southern Badia Center for Training and Volunteer Work, said the center works to implement the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein to provide a safe and supportive environment for youth. Through its programs, the center enables young people in Jordan and across the Arab world to exchange and transfer experiences. Mai Hindi, head of the camp’s organizing committee at the Southern Badia Center, said the event brings together youth from several Arab countries and highlights Jordan’s leading role in international forums, its commitment to Arab unity, and its efforts to promote the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Abdul Rahim Zawahreh, Director of the All Jordan Youth Commission, stated that the Kingdom is hosting youth from various Arab countries as part of a broader initiative to enhance the exchange of experiences. He noted that the program aims to acquaint participants with Jordan’s role in addressing Arab issues, most notably the Palestinian cause. The camp, organized by the Southern Badia Center for Training and Volunteer Work in cooperation with the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and in partnership with the All Jordan Youth Commission the youth arm of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development welcomes young participants from across the Arab region. The program includes two key sessions addressing the role of youth in building sustainable societies and in promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence through national initiatives that empower young people on political and social fronts. //Petra// AJ
