40/ RCJA condemns Israeli orders to close Jerusalem Fund and Endowment
Amman, April 29 (Petra) -Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA) condemned the order issued by extremist Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to the occupation authorities to close Jerusalem Fund and Endowment. In remarks to "Petra" Tuesday, RCJA Secretary-General, Abdullah Kanaan, said the Jerusalem endowment is an independent, charitable, non-profit organization, which is solely working to assist the holy city's people and support economic empowerment and sustainable development for charitable bodies there. Kanaan stressed that these Israel's aggressive escalation measures will not break the will of the steadfast Palestinian people, who are the rightful owners. Jordan, its people and leadership, as the Hashemite Custodian over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, will maintain its firm support the holy city's people, its holy sites, and humanitarian and charitable institutions in Jerusalem and Palestine, he pointed out. Amid international silence, he said the Israeli steps against people in Jerusalem and Palestine have made Israel to believe that its malicious plans are stronger than international legitimacy and the historical and legal right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. Kanaan noted failure to hold Israel accountable for its ongoing crimes against Palestinian people has pushed it to promote fake victories to appease colonizers, in complete disregard of the rights of the Palestinian people to their land, holy sites, and community institutions that are protected by international law and norms. On its goals, Kanaan stated the right-wing Israeli government aims to divert attention from its crimes against the Gaza Strip. In a related context, he referred to Isreal's moves to close UNRWA headquarters and schools in Jerusalem. //Petra// AG
