46/ Swiss medical delegation visits Jordan University Hospital
Amman, April 29 (Petra) – A delegation from the Swiss non-profit foundation "Hear the World" visited Jordan University Hospital on Tuesday to review progress on a project to establish a national center for pediatric hearing care. Nader Bsoul, director general of the hospital, praised the Swiss foundation's support for the hospital and its ongoing efforts to assist children with hearing impairments. He said the project represents a major step forward in services for children with hearing loss, aiming to improve their quality of life and support their integration into society. The visiting delegation included Dr. Doreen Mulenga, a member of the foundation's advisory board and UNICEF representative, as well as Rugile Staneviciute, the audiology project director. They expressed appreciation for the hospital’s commitment and the project's progress, reaffirming the foundation's dedication to a long-term partnership with the university and the hospital. They also highlighted their support for early detection and comprehensive rehabilitation programs for children with hearing difficulties across Jordan. The event was attended by several families and children who have benefited from the program through hearing aids or cochlear implants. They shared personal stories about how the initiative had improved their hearing and communication. The visit included a tour of the neonatal intensive care unit, where the delegation observed newborn hearing screening procedures and early detection protocols.
