35/ Egypt, Jordan in full alignment on Palestine issue - Egyptian FM
Cairo, Aug 19 (Petra) – Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty said on Tuesday that Egypt and Jordan share identical positions on the Palestinian cause, stressing that as the two countries bordering Palestine, they are the most directly affected by any instability in Gaza or the West Bank. Abdelatty told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that there was "full coordination at the leadership level" between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and His Majesty King Abdullah II, as well as between the two countries’ foreign ministries. "Egypt speaks on behalf of Jordan, and Jordan speaks on behalf of Egypt, in a clear affirmation of the depth of relations and ongoing coordination," he said. The minister underlined that both countries categorically reject forced displacement plans, describing them as a "red line" that neither Egypt nor Jordan would accept under any circumstances. He noted that close Egyptian-Jordanian coordination at various levels, particularly at the leadership level, had helped change the prevailing narrative in the West about the reality of events in Gaza and the West Bank. What is happening in the West Bank, he added, is no less dangerous than events in Gaza. As part of joint efforts, Abdelatty said Egypt and Jordan were working continuously to mobilize political and humanitarian support for the Palestinian cause. He also confirmed ongoing coordination between the two countries and international partners to convene a relief conference for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, with the participation of Arab states and the international community. He said all forms of political and financial support were being mobilized to implement a comprehensive plan for reconstruction to ensure a dignified life for Palestinians. //Petra// AF
