7/ FM calls for immediate international action to stop occupation's crimes
Amman, August 22 (Petra)-- The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declaration of famine in Gaza and the UN Secretary-General's description of this inhumane reality as a moral condemnation and a failure of humanity, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi, reflect the tragic reality that the Israeli government has allowed Palestinians to starve without accountability. Safadi stressed in a tweet on the X platform that all that is needed to put an end to this humanitarian crisis is the immediate removal of the Israeli closure on the Gaza Strip and the opening of the humanitarian aid distribution system. He said that Israeli government ministers who refer to Palestinians as "human animals" would not stop the hunger program until they are held accountable for their crimes. He emphasized that the world has to take immediate action. Food, water, and medicine should not be denied to Palestinians any longer. He clarified that using famine as a weapon is a war crime that may be prevented by using the instruments that international law provides to hold Israel responsible. He went on to say that Israel must be made to stop its cruel treatment of Palestinians because it has refused every effort to do so. He underlined the necessity of UN humanitarian organizations being able to receive and disperse supplies, as well as the urgent need for food, water, infant formula, and medication to enter the Gaza Strip. "There must be enough killing, enough impunity, enough violations of humanitarian values and international law," Safadi said, emphasizing the need for the war to end and the need for all sides to agree to the proposed ceasefire deal. //Petra// MF
