18/ JMA says Hakeem links billing system to national platform to ease insurance claims
Amman, Aug 23 (Petra) – The Jordan Medical Association (JMA) said on Saturday that the Electronic Health Solutions (EHS) program (Hakeem) has integrated its system with the national billing platform, enabling automatic billing when an insurance claim is submitted through the company’s system. The move aims to ease the burden of processing medical insurance claims for doctors who wish to use the service. According to a JMA statement, the EHS has allowed for consolidated billing of claims from April, May and June, in line with an exemption granted by the Income and Sales Tax Department for those months. It also enabled physicians to issue detailed electronic bills retroactively, starting from July 1, with a single click, in compliance with the department’s requirement for detailed billing from that date onward. The JMA noted that Hakeem has linked the online claim platforms of several insurance providers to the billing system, making billing automatic once an insurance claim is submitted. These companies include Jordan International Insurance (Newton), GlobeMed Jordan, MedService, OmniCare, the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC), Medexa, and NatHealth (Tablet). Hakeem is currently working to connect the remaining platforms of other insurers, with completion expected before the end of the month. These include Gulf Insurance Group (GIG), MedNet, Solidarity, and the Euro Arab Insurance GROUP. The EHS has also introduced mechanisms for billing uninsured (cash) patients and self-funded funds such as unions, banks, and universities. It further provided a process for entering and billing inpatient claims directly for doctors who prefer to claim from insurers without going through hospitals. Additionally, the EHS offered a hospital billing system to help doctors collect dues from hospitals and created an electronic mechanism to automatically issue return invoices for amounts deducted by insurance companies and insurance management firms from doctors’ claims. More than 600 doctors have activated the service to date, with over 40,000 invoices processed automatically that otherwise would have required manual billing, the JMA said. It urged doctors to swiftly join and activate the electronic link with the national billing system through the Hakeem Claim platform. The JMA signed an agreement with EHS in June to provide a technical solution enabling doctors to electronically connect with the national billing system and ease the processing of medical insurance claims. //Petra// AF
