  4/ 1.6m students head to school nationwide Sunday-Education Ministry

Amman, August 23 (Petra) - Approximately 1.6 million students are scheduled to head to schools across the Kingdom on Sunday, with the start of the new 2025/2026 academic year.

In a statement Saturday, Ministry of Education said the number of students in schools nationwide may go up or down, as figures change due to student transfer and registration processes at the beginning of the coming school year.

The ministry announced completion of all necessary preparations and arrangements to receive students, mainly textbook delivery, furnished classrooms, and transfer of teaching staff.

According to the ministry's statistics, approximately 7,843 schools are set to receive students countrywide.

The ministry said female students reached 1,139,784, while the number of male peers stood at 1,168,464.

Of these, 833,115 students head to public schools, 253,008 will join the private education, while 50,728 will receive learning under UNRWA services, and 2,933 are in military education schools, the ministry pointed out.

On the learning infrastructure, the ministry announced a total of 7,843 schools will receive students, of which 4,049 are public, 3,532 are private, 55 are military culture facilities and 162 are affiliated with UNRWA.

The ministry said a total of 59,484 classrooms are affiliated with the Ministry of Education.
