14/ Qatamin calls for tech integration to enhance transport sector efficiency
Amman, August 24 (Petra) – Minister of Transport, Dr. Nidal Qatamin, said integration of modern technology has become a "necessity" for developing the Kingdom's transport sector, calling for providing a "comprehensive and unified" database to linkall relevant institutions. During his meeting with Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), Bassam Sarhan, on Sunday, Qatamin said the ministry is working to improve current transport conditions to keep pace with requirements of the next phase. Qatamin stated technology represents a "key" tool for enhancing level of services provided to citizens and the business sector. Sarhan, in turn, expressed the commission's "readiness" to cooperate with Ministry of Transport and provide the necessary expertise and capabilities to support efforts to integrate technology into Jordan's transport sector. Sarhan added that this sector is "vital" that directly affects the citizens' lives and contributes to facilitate the movement of goods and trade. According to a Ministry of Transport statement, the meeting highlighted the transport sector's significance as a "key" pillar supporting the national economy and serving citizens. The two sides underlined action to develop the sector's infrastructure and rely on modern technologies as a "fundamental pillar to enhance its efficiency and sustainability." //Petra// AG
