12/ Irbid Governor Inspects Road Expansion near Princess Basma Hospital
Irbid, Aug. 25 (Petra) – Irbid Governor Radwan Atoum on Monday inspected progress on the road expansion project surrounding the new Princess Basma Teaching Hospital, aimed at improving infrastructure and facilitating access to the facility. Atoum, accompanied by the Director of the Hospitals Department at the Ministry of Health, Imad Abu Yaqeen, and hospital director Ibrahim Shehabat, received a briefing on the implementation phases and achievements. He underlined the importance of completing the project on schedule to ease traffic congestion and ensure smooth access to the hospital, a strategic medical facility serving northern Jordan. Director of Municipal Engineering in Irbid, Osama Kanaan, said rehabilitation and preparation works began five days ago, funded by the Ministry of Finance at a cost of JD400,000. The project, expected to take 35 days, includes scraping, paving, expansion, hot asphalt works, and connections to the Ring Road, as well as improvements to the nearby roundabout. Director General of Irbid Electricity Company, Bashar Tamimi, reviewed technical works to supply the hospital with electricity. He said the company had provided 13.5 megavolt amperes last June, supported by two power sources from the medium-voltage network, to ensure reliability and continuity of service.
