15/ Israeli Forces Arrest 23 Palestinians in West Bank Raids, Settlers Storm al-Aqsa

Ramallah, Aug. 26 (Petra) -- Israeli occupation forces carried out a wide arrest campaign across the West Bank on Tuesday, detaining 23 Palestinians, including former prisoners, while extremist settler gangs continued assaults against Palestinians and their property.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a statement that occupation forces stormed several cities Hebron, Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus, Ramallah, al-Bireh, and Jericho firing heavy live ammunition and arresting 23 people on allegations of being wanted.

During the raid in central Ramallah, three Palestinians, including a 12-year-old child, were injured by live bullets. The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported the wounded were near the vegetable market in downtown Ramallah as Israeli snipers positioned themselves on rooftops. All three were transferred to the hospital. The Red Crescent also confirmed that Israeli forces fired rubber bullets at a journalists’ vehicle, causing damage.

In Jerusalem, dozens of extremist Jewish settlers stormed the courtyards of the al-Aqsa Mosque/ al-Haram al-Sharif under Israeli police protection. The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem said the settlers performed Talmudic rituals and provocative dances inside the compound.
