21/ Jordan Condemns Continued Israeli Violations on Syrian Territory

Amman, Aug. 26 (Petra) – The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs strongly condemned Israel’s continued violations and incursion into Syrian territory on Monday, including the bombing of a Syrian citizen’s home, which resulted in his death.

The ministry also denounced Israel’s announcement of its ongoing illegal presence on the summit of Jabal al-Shaykh and in the buffer zone, describing these actions as a blatant breach of international law and a dangerous escalation threatening Syria’s stability, sovereignty, and security.

The ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Sufian Qudah, stressed the need for Israel to halt its repeated attacks on Syrian territory, noting that they constitute a violation of the 1984 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel and an assault on the sovereignty of an Arab state, in clear contravention of the United Nations Charter.

Ambassador Qudah reiterated Jordan’s full support and solidarity with Syria, emphasizing the importance of its security, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and protection of its citizens, as essential pillars of regional stability.

He called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling Israel to cease its attacks on Syrian territory, refrain from escalating tensions in the region, and adhere to international law, international humanitarian law, and relevant United Nations resolutions.
