30/ JEDCO supports 150 economic projects in Ma'an over past 3 years
Ma'an, August 27 (Petra) -Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) said it has provided financial and technical support to 150 economic projects in southern Ma'an governorate over the past three years, as part of its efforts to promote economic development and empower entrepreneurs. The announcement came during a JEDCO's introductory meeting on Wednesday at the Ma'an Chamber of Commerce. The meeting reviewed JEDCO's financial and technical support programs to entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the Kingdom's governorates, as part of its field visits to introduce its programs. According to a JEDCO statement, the meeting was attended by several entrepreneurs, alongside a group of young people wishing to establish their own projects. A specialized technical team elaborated the mechanisms for benefiting from JEDCO's programs and the required criteria, as well as steps for submitting applications online to facilitate procedures. JEDCO added that these meetings align with its vision of supporting entrepreneurial environment and enhancing capabilities of economic projects by bringing its services "closer to project owners and listening to their concerns." On future steps, JEDCO pledged "commitment" to responding to suggestions, feedback and inquiries, which would contribute to achieving widespread access and reaching "the largest possible number of beneficiaries." Programs target people with "pioneering and innovative" ideas to transform them into productive projects, as well as owners of small and medium enterprises in various industrial, craft, agricultural, and service sectors, the statement pointed out. Additionally, JEDCO noted this process aims to enhance economic "competitiveness" and increase contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP), with a focus on "high-value creative" industries and empowering women and youth for self-employment, mainly in rural areas. JEDCO announced assistance is directed to individuals over the age of 21 and provides non-refundable financial grants of up to JD 50,000, in addition to technical support, with "priority given to exceptional and unique" projects in specific fields. JEDCO indicated that its contribution covers up to 70% of the total project cost, while the project owner pays minimum 30%. //Petra// AG
