41/ UN Voices Deep Concern Over Ceasefire Violations in Golan Disengagement Zone

New York, Dec. 3 (Petra) – The United Nations expressed deep concern over ongoing violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, including repeated breaches of the ceasefire in the Golan region.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said the presence and continued activities of the Israeli military inside the separation zone constitute a violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He noted that residents on the Bravo side the eastern sector of the Golan continue to protest outside the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) against the Israeli army’s presence and actions. According to Dujarric, UNDOF remains engaged with the Israeli military to address these concerns and maintains regular communication with local leaders.

The UN called on all parties to uphold their commitments under the agreement, including the removal of all unauthorized personnel from the separation and limitation zones. It stressed that no military forces or activities are permitted in the separation area except those carried out by UNDOF.

The UN reaffirmed its commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial unity.

The Security Council is expected to discuss the situation in the Golan and the mandate of the UN mission later this month.
