20/ Jordan-Spain Senate Committee Meets Spanish Ambassador
Amman, Dec. 4 (Petra) – The Jordanian–Spanish Friendship Committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Abla Amawi, met Thursday with Spanish Ambassador to the Kingdom Miguel de Lucas Gonz?lez. Amawi underscored the strength of bilateral relations and their advanced level of coordination on issues of mutual concern. She highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in parliamentary, investment, educational, and cultural fields, and promoting religious tourism. She noted the significant efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to achieve peace, security, and stability in the region, praising Spain’s supportive stance toward Jordan, the Palestinian cause, and efforts to end the Israeli war on Gaza, as well as its advocacy for a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. Amawi called for boosting the exchange of expertise, particularly in renewable energy, increasing trade volume, and attracting investment that serves both countries’ interests and meets the aspirations of their peoples. Ambassador de Lucas Gonz?lez affirmed the depth of Jordanian–Spanish relations and the strong ties between the two leaderships, which have established a robust strategic partnership. He said the signing of the joint declaration on the strategic partnership between Jordan and Spain, attended by His Majesty King Abdullah II and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S?nchez in Madrid, marks an important step toward elevating bilateral ties to a strategic level across developmental, economic, commercial, social, cultural, and defense fields, contributing to shared interests and regional stability. He expressed his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s steadfast regional and international positions under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, stressing that peace in the region can only be achieved through a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue. Committee members emphasized the need to broaden cooperation between Jordan and Spain across various sectors, reaffirming Jordan’s unwavering positions on regional matters, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, and commending Spain’s constructive role in supporting Arab issues in international forums. //Petra// AO
