24/ Malaysia Donates $200,000 to Support Gaza Orphans Care Program
Amman, Dec. 4 (Petra) – The Embassy of Malaysia in Amman announced on Thursday a contribution of USD 200,000 to the Taawon Welfare Association in support of the "Noor" Gaza Orphans Care Program, reaffirming Malaysia’s enduring commitment to the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people. The announcement was made during a mock cheque presentation attended by Malaysia’s Ambassador to Jordan and Palestine, Dato’ Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman, Taawon Director-General Tareq Emtairah, and members of the association and embassy staff. According to a statement by the Malaysian embassy, "the contribution, channelled through the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine (AAKRP), reflects Malaysia’s enduring solidarity with the people of Palestine and its continued efforts to provide assistance to vulnerable communities affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza." "The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains deeply alarming, with more than 70,000 fatalities and over 170,000 injured. Thousands of children have lost one or both parents and continue to face severe trauma, displacement, and an uncertain future," it added. The ‘Noor’ Gaza Orphans Care Program serves as an essential mechanism to safeguard the welfare of these children. Malaysia’s contribution will provide comprehensive support for 100 orphans for a period of one year, covering food and clothing, healthcare, educational services, protection measures, and psychological support. These interventions aim to restore stability and dignity to the children’s lives amid the ongoing crisis. Malaysia acknowledged the professionalism and steadfast commitment of Taawon, recognised as one of the most reputable welfare institutions serving the Palestinian population. This collaboration reflects Malaysia’s belief in the importance of effective international cooperation in delivering timely and meaningful assistance, the statement pointed out. Malaysia underscored its readiness to explore expanded areas of cooperation with Taawon and other humanitarian partners, including medical aid, capacity-building initiatives, educational linkages, psychosocial support programmes, and long-term community development efforts. The Government of Malaysia stressed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, adding that it will continue to advocate for peace, justice, and the protection of civilians. The statement underlined Malaysia's commitment to supporting the children of Gaza, who "represent the future and resilience of Palestine." //Petra// AJ
