6/ Water Minister Highlights Ongoing Cooperation with UNICEF in Addressing Sector Challenges

Amman, Dec. 4 (Petra) -- Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Al-Saud, emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with UNICEF in tackling the challenges facing Jordan's water sector.

His remarks came during discussions held on Thursday with UNICEF’s Resident Representative in Jordan, Marc Rubin, and Deputy Representative Shairose Mawji.

A ministry statement said the talks focused on Jordan’s current water situation, particularly the effects of fluctuating rainfall, increasing demand, and climate change, all of which have put additional pressure on the sustainability of available water resources.

Abu Al-Saud called for intensifying international support to secure the funding needed for key projects that would meet water needs across the country and improve service delivery for both citizens and refugees in camps.

The minister expressed his appreciation to UNICEF and its teams for their ongoing efforts to enhance water services in host communities.

Rubin reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting the sector, noting that the Ministry of Water and Irrigation’s experience serves as a regional and international example of effective water management.
