24/ Agriculture 'field day' on modern Irrigation launched in Tafileh

Tafileh, Dec 10 (Petra) – The Ministry of Agriculture's Extension Programs Directorate organized a field day on modern irrigation techniques, targeting interested women and farmers in the southwestern governorate to enhance their knowledge and harness their skills.

The field day is part of the Ministry's Farmer Field Schools (FFS) plan and its efforts to promote efficient water use and adopt modern agricultural practices to climate change.

The field day included theoretical and practical training sessions by a team from the Tafileh Agriculture Directorate at a farm on various irrigation systems and techniques, including drip and sprinkler, and smart control systems, along with a detailed explanation of how to conserve water and improve irrigation efficiency on farms.

It is part of the ministry's programs aimed at enhancing agricultural awareness and empowering those working in the sector to keep pace with modern technologies and utilize them to improve agricultural production and reduce costs, said Tafileh Director of Agriculture Bilal Haloul.

It is also part of a series of field sessions to support farmers and provide them with practical knowledge to promote integrated orchard management and achieve the highest possible efficiency in water resource use, he pointed out.

Presentations were given during the sessions on up-to-date irrigation techniques, including drip irrigation's impact on quality and productivity and reducing water loss.

Participants viewed components of the irrigation system and operational mechanism in the field, and monitored soil water behavior, giving farmers the opportunity to evaluate performance and ask technical questions.
