  30/ Jordan, China discuss educational cooperation 

Amman, December 10 (Petra) – The Secretary General of the Ministry of Education for Educational Affairs, Dr. Nawaf Ajarmeh, on Wednesday met with Yu Tianqi, Deputy Director General of the the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) ??at the Chinese Ministry of Education, to discuss frameworks for joint cooperation and ways to enhance opportunities for including the Chinese language in the educational programs of Jordanian schools.

Talking at the meeting, Ajarmeh emphasized the ministry's "commitment" to expanding international cooperation to contribute to developing students' skills and opening "new" avenues for cultural and intellectual exchange.

Ajarmeh added that the Chinese language is already taught in a number of Jordan's private schools, noting the ministry will mull over plans to teach it in several public schools, as part of its strategy to diversify foreign language options to keep pace with global changes and future needs.

For her part, Tianqi stated the Chinese language is taught in 190 countries, including 80 Arab countries, expressing the Chinese Embassy's eagerness for joint cooperation in teaching the Chinese language in Jordanian schools.

The delegation expressed their appreciation for the existing Jordanian-Chinese cooperation, citing the two countries' readiness to support educational programs by providing experts, teachers, and necessary educational materials, as well as enhancing bilateral cultural and academic exchange.
