18/ Global Demand for 2026 World Cup Tickets Surges in First 24 Hours of Sales Phase

Amman, Dec 13 (Petra)- Just 24 hours after the opening of the third phase of ticket sales for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, demand from around the world reached exceptional levels, with fans from more than 200 countries and territories submitting five million ticket requests via FIFA.com/tickets. The surge reflects enthusiasm for the first World Cup to feature 48 teams, to be hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.

According to FIFA’s official website, preliminary figures indicate a strong appetite for high-profile group-stage matches, with the Colombia–Portugal encounter emerging as the most requested match during the random draw period so far.

After the first 24 hours, the three host nations topped the list of ticket demand, followed by the top 10 countries in terms of requests: Colombia, England, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Scotland, Germany, Australia, France and Panama.

During this sales phase, fans can select the match or matches they wish to attend, the ticket category and the number of tickets per match, subject to household limits. Tickets will also be available through FIFA’s official resale and exchange platform on FIFA.com/tickets starting Monday.

FIFA is also offering tickets allocated to participating member associations at fixed prices, following controversy over the use of dynamic pricing where prices vary according to demand in earlier sales phases.

FIFA said that, as a non-profit organization, it will reinvest the revenues generated from the World Cup to support the growth of football for men, women and youth across all 211 member associations worldwide. It expects to reinvest more than 90 percent of the investments included in its 2023–2026 budget back into the game, with the aim of significantly advancing football development globally.
