12/ Jordan to host first official drag race at Dead Sea Track

Amman, Dec. 15 (Petra) – Jordan will host its first official drag race on Friday, organized by NMK Performance in strategic partnership with HoverUp, marking a milestone in the Kingdom’s motorsports landscape.

The race will take place at the Dead Sea Track within The HoverUp Park in the Dead Sea area and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The event aims to support the development of motorsports in Jordan and create new opportunities for local drivers and technical teams within a regulated and professional framework.

Organizers said the race will be held in a safe and controlled environment that meets internationally recognized safety and operational standards, reflecting a broader vision to establish a sustainable motorsports ecosystem in the Kingdom.

The competition will be run over a quarter-mile (400-meter) distance and will rely on an advanced electronic timing system to record each vehicle’s performance independently, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and fairness in results. The format lays the groundwork for an officially sanctioned competitive drag racing experience in Jordan.

NMK Performance said the event represents the formal launch of drag racing in the Kingdom, noting that the partnership with HoverUp was instrumental in achieving this milestone and will serve as a foundation for organizing future championships that strengthen Jordan’s presence on the regional motorsports scene.

The event is expected to attract a wide audience of motorsports enthusiasts and industry professionals, alongside sponsors and partners from various sectors, enhancing Jordan’s profile as a destination capable of hosting specialized sporting events.

HoverUp said it provided the venue, logistical support, and infrastructure required to host an official drag race in line with international standards, turning the concept into a practical reality.

The race will feature multiple categories, allowing participation by a broad range of vehicles, from standard production cars to modified models, reflecting the diversity of Jordan’s motorsports community and offering drivers an official platform to demonstrate their skills.
