13/ Jordan to host Arab social development conference, ministerial council session

Amman, Dec. 15 (Petra) – A high-level Arab conference titled "Implementing the Declaration of the Second World Summit for Social Development" will open next Wednesday as part of the 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, which the Kingdom is hosting.

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit is scheduled to attend the conference, which is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Social Development and the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs at the Arab League.

Jordan has completed all preparations to receive participating delegations and ensure the necessary organizational and logistical arrangements. Ahead of the ministerial session, preparatory meetings of senior officials from participating Arab states will be held on Monday and Tuesday to review draft resolutions and proposed social policies, ahead of their submission to the ministerial council for approval.

The session is set to conclude next Thursday following the adoption of resolutions and recommendations, alongside discussions on a range of priority issues within the framework of joint Arab action.

Jordan’s hosting of the 45th session reflects its keenness to strengthen joint Arab cooperation and its role in advancing social policy development that supports comprehensive development. The session also aims to contribute to shaping the direction of Arab social action and bolstering regional efforts to build more efficient and sustainable social protection and development systems with a positive impact across Arab societies.
