31/ Lawmakers visit Gaza children being treated at Jordan University Hospital
Amman, Dec 15 (Petra) – The Lower House's Health and Food Committee on Monday visited the University of Jordan Hospital, where a dozen of injured children from the Gaza Strip are receiving treatment. MP Ahmad Sarahneh, head of the committee, said the visit is to follow up on the condition of the children, particularly those with severe wounds, noting directives by His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to provide Gaza children with necessary health services in Jordan. He stressed cooperation by government bodies, including the Ministry of Health, hospitals, and medical centers, to ensure the children receive medical support, and coordinate with international humanitarian organizations, such as the World Health Organization, to offer urgent medical assistance. University of Jordan Hospital director Nader Bsoul said the health facility was fully prepared to receive the injured, including operating rooms and intensive care units to accommodate emergency cases. Chief physician, Dr. Iyad Al-Amouri, said the hospital received 11 injured children from Gaza so far, some with serious injuries from shelling, adding that medical staff are doing their utmost to provide quality care to them. Members of the parliamentary committee pledged to continue health and medical support for the Gaza children, noting Jordan's response to the humanitarian challenges in the Strip. //Petra//SS
