19/ Culture Ministry Launches First Phase of Hmoud School Museum Project in Karak
Karak, Dec. 27 (Petra) - Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh on Saturday launched the first phase of the Hmoud School Museum project in the village of Hmoud in Karak (southern Jordan), in a pioneering cultural and documentation step aimed at preserving the educational and national memory of Karak governorate and commemorating its educational journey over the decades. The launch of the project comes in appreciation of the school’s high historical standing, as Hmoud School is considered one of the earliest educational institutions established in the governorate after Karak Secondary School. Founded in 1922, it has since served as a beacon of learning and a key contributor to building Jordanian generations and shaping cultural and social awareness, making it a witness to the state’s development and its scientific renaissance. Rawashdeh said the museum project represents a commitment to safeguarding the national narrative and valuing the knowledge legacy provided by the school as an enlightenment center that contributed to graduating national competencies that influenced various fields of life. He stressed the importance of documenting this memory so that it remains an inspiring reference for future generations, reflecting the depth of Jordan’s cultural and educational roots. //Petra// AF
