22/ Jordan, Arab, Muslim Countries Reject Israel’s Recognition of "Somaliland"

Amman, Dec. 27 (Petra) – The foreign ministers of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Union of the Comoros, the Republic of Djibouti, the Republic of The Gambia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Iraq, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Republic of Maldives, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of Sudan, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Republic of Yemen, along with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), affirmed their categorical rejection of Israel’s announcement, on Dec. 26, 2025, recognizing the "Somaliland" region within the Federal Republic of Somalia.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday, the ministers stressed that "this unprecedented measure carries serious repercussions for peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, undermines international peace and security, and reflects a clear disregard for international law."

The statement strongly condemned the recognition in the strongest terms, considering it a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, which affirm respect for the sovereignty of states, their unity, and their territorial integrity.

The ministers affirmed their full support for the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and rejected any measures that would undermine Somalia’s unity, territorial integrity, or sovereignty over all its territory, warning that recognizing the independence of parts of states constitutes a dangerous precedent and a direct threat to international peace and security and to the established principles of international law and the UN Charter.

The statement renewed its categorical rejection of any linkage between this step and any plans to displace the Palestinian people outside their land, stressing that such plans are rejected in form and substance, unequivocally.
