  4/ Rain forecast over 3 days-JMD

Amman, Dec. 27 (Petra) – The Kingdom will be affected on Saturday by a low-pressure system centered over Cyprus.

Rain is forecast intermittently in the Kingdom's northern and central regions, as well as parts of the eastern and southwestern regions.

During the evening and night, heavy downpour is often forecast for short periods in the Kingdom's northern and central regions, accompanied by occasional thunder and hail.

In its report, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) warns of the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in the Kingdom's northern and central regions, including the Dead Sea area.

The JMD also warns of poor horizontal visibility in the early morning hours due to fog over the mountainous areas and parts of the plains, and low horizontal visibility at times due to dust in the southern regions.

Additionally, the JMD warns of slippery roads in areas experiencing rainfall.

The Kingdom will remain under the impact of the a cold and humid air mass on Sunday and the weather will be cold, cloudy, and rainy in the Kingdom's northern and central regions, as well as parts of the east and south, including the city of Aqaba.

Rain is expected to be often heavy during the morning hours , possibly accompanied by thunder. Winds will be active westerly, with occasional strong gusts reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h, which cause dust storms, particularly in desert areas. Intensity of the rainfall will gradually decrease during the evening and night hours.

On Monday, the Kingdom will be affected by another low-pressure system centered over Cyprus.

The JMD noted the weather will be cold and cloudy, with renewed rainfall in the Kingdom's northern and central regions, as well as parts of the southwestern and eastern regions.

Downpour is expected to be often heavy in those regions, possibly accompanied by thunder. Winds will be active and westerly, with occasional strong gusts reaching speeds of 60-70 km/h, which cause dust storms, particularly in desert areas. Intensity of the rainfall will gradually decrease during the night.

Saturday's maximum and minimum temperatures in Amman will range between 14 and 3 degrees Celsius, while the the Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 21C, sliding to 10C at night.
