10/ Jerash Vocational Training Institute Continues Workforce Skills Development
Jerash, Dec. 29 (Petra) -- Jerash Vocational Training Corporation continues to train human resources and supply the labor market with professional and technical skills, in line with the Economic Modernization Vision and the Vocational Training Corporation’s strategy. Institute Director Mohammed Otoum said the institute has a qualified technical and administrative staff of 24 engineers and technicians, six administrative employees, and six support services staff, and offers more than 20 vocational specializations across 14 training workshops. He explained that training programs cover semi-skilled, skilled, and professional levels in fields including beauty services, men’s barbering, tailoring, digital skills, hospitality, automotive electrical systems, vehicle mechanics, air conditioning and refrigeration, and plumbing. Otoum added that the institute conducts professional licensing exams, participates in classifying vocational establishments, carries out internal and external production activities, and provides career guidance and awareness services. It also organizes workshops, seminars, and lectures in cooperation with official entities. Since its establishment, the institute has graduated more than 6,000 trainees who have contributed to the local and regional labor markets. In 2025, enrollment reached about 585 trainees, including 351 males and 234 females, under Vocational Training Corporation programs, projects, and agreements. He noted that, during the current year, the institute implemented projects and training courses in cooperation with official and civil entities, including programs for assistant chefs in Irbid, hospitality, medical laboratories, barista skills, computer-based printing, automated embroidery, hydroponic farming, dairy maintenance, automotive electrical systems, and renewable energy. Otoum said the Jerash Governorate Council provided financial support of JD50,000 to back training programs, which remain under implementation, affirming the institute’s continued rollout of additional programs under its vocational training expansion plans. He also stated that the institute is among those targeted under an agreement with the Ministry of Education, where vocational and technical programs are implemented pending completion of transfer procedures to the ministry, in line with the institutional directions led by the Vocational Training Corporation. //Petra// NQ
