Amman, Dec. 29 (Petra) – Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh met Monday with Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two cities.

According to a statement by the Greater Amman Municipality, Shawarbeh praised the longstanding Jordanian-Chinese relations and reaffirmed the Municipality’s commitment to supporting joint initiatives that serve the interests of both countries.

During the meeting at his office, Shawarbeh outlined the Municipality’s plans and projects aimed at improving citizen services. He emphasized the potential for expanded cooperation with Beijing in transportation, urban development, environmental sustainability, and urban resilience, stressing infrastructure development as a cornerstone for sustainable growth and improved quality of life.

Guo commended Amman’s achievements in municipal, urban, and cultural development and highlighted the Municipality’s plans to enhance services and infrastructure.

Amman and Beijing have a memorandum of understanding covering cooperation in environmental management, architectural planning, training, and exchange of expertise.
