11/ Better Work Program Continues to Support Garment Sector in Jordan’s Industrial Zones
Amman, June 12 (Petra) – Ministry of Labor spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud underscored the ministry’s commitment to ensuring a decent, safe, and healthy working environment for workers in the garment and textile industry, particularly in the Qualified Industrial Zones (QIZs), saying that the Better Work program is still going strong. In a statement on Thursday, Zyoud noted that the program, launched in 2008 as a partnership between the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Ministry of Labor, and key stakeholders in the garment sector, aims to improve labor standards, boost the sector’s global competitiveness, and promote inclusive economic development. He emphasized that the initiative also supports the creation of decent job opportunities, the empowerment of women in the workforce, and the development of institutional capacity among the tripartite stakeholders government, workers, and employers to achieve improved labor outcomes. //Petra// AO
