2/ Temperatures to Remain Above Seasonal Averages Through Saturday
Amman, June 12 (Petra) -- Relatively hot weather will continue to prevail through Saturday, with temperatures forecast to remain 4 to 5 C above the seasonal average, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department. On Thursday, conditions will be relatively hot across most regions and particularly hot in the Badia, Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Northwesterly winds are expected to blow at moderate speeds, occasionally becoming active in desert areas. In its daily report, the Meteorological Department warned against direct sun exposure during midday hours, especially in low-lying and desert regions. The public is advised to stay hydrated and avoid leaving children in closed vehicles. Similar weather conditions are expected on Friday and Saturday, with continued heat across the Kingdom and particularly high temperatures in the Badia and Jordan Valley areas. Winds will remain northwesterly and moderate, with occasional gusts. A slight drop in temperatures is anticipated on Sunday, bringing moderate weather to most areas. However, hot conditions will persist in the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will continue from the northwest, occasionally picking up in speed. Forecast high and low temperatures for today show a notable variation across regions, with eastern Amman expected to reach 34 C and drop to 24 C at night, while western Amman will see slightly milder conditions at 32 C during the day and 22 C overnight. In the northern highlands, temperatures will range between 29 C and 21 C, and in the Sharah highlands between 30 C and 19 C. The Badia regions are forecast to be the hottest, with highs of 40 C and lows of 23 C. Similar conditions are expected in the plains at 34 C / 24 C. The northern Jordan Valley will reach 39 C, cooling to 26 C at night, while the southern Jordan Valley is set to climb to 41 C with a nighttime low of 28 C.
