10/ Minister Highlights Role of Technology in Advancing Women's Entrepreneurship

Amman, March 12 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development and Chairperson of the Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment, Wafa Bani Mustafa, underscored the crucial role of modern technology in accelerating the growth of women-led businesses and facilitating flexible work arrangements.

Speaking on Tuesday evening at a side event organized by Turkiye on the sidelines of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York, Bani Mustafa emphasized the importance of digitalization in empowering female entrepreneurs. The event, titled "Women's Entrepreneurship: Inspired by the Family and Supported by Digitization," explored strategies to enhance women's economic participation.

She noted that Jordan has established a national team to support women-owned enterprises by expanding their access to economic opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, enhancing their competitiveness, and facilitating their entry into global markets.

Bani Mustafa also highlighted the contribution of the information and communications technology (ICT) sector to Jordan's gross domestic product (GDP), describing it as a key driver for employment, particularly for women. She pointed out that the sector's flexibility in working hours enables women to balance their professional and family responsibilities more effectively.

Additionally, she discussed women's access to digital services in Jordan, including their ownership of mobile wallets, engagement in electronic payments, smartphone usage, and internet accessibility, as well as the diversity of digital applications available to them.
