New York, March 12 (Petra) -- European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Kaja Kallas said Tuesday that the two-state solution remains the only way to achieve lasting peace and security in the Middle East.

Speaking at the annual session of the UN Security Council on cooperation between the United Nations and the European Union in maintaining international peace and security last night, she said the European Union supports diplomatic efforts through the "International Coalition for the Two-State Solution."

Kallas said the EU mission at the Rafah border crossing is a tangible contribution to supporting the Gaza ceasefire deal on the ground.

She affirmed the European Union's categorical rejection of any attempts to make changes, whether on the ground or to the demographic composition of Gaza or any other region in the world.

Kallas also welcomed the Arab plan for recovery and reconstruction, which was recently presented at the Arab League summit in Cairo and also adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, adding that the European Union will study these proposals with its Arab partners.
