19/ Agricultural exports rise 38% in 2024 at JD1.529bln-Minister
Amman, March 13 (Petra) – Jordan’s agricultural exports surged by 38% in 2024, compared to the previous year, reaching JD1.529 billion, marking an increase of JD426 million from the JD1.103 billion recorded in 2023. In remarks to "Petra" Thursday, Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, exports grew despite market closures, citing a report by the Department of Statistics (DoS), which is due to the government's efforts in facilitating export processes and ensuring market access. Hneifat highlighted also role of the Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Products Marketing Company in expanding market reach for local produce, as well as increased horticultural and livestock exports. The government, he stated, maintains support to agricultural exports by subsidizing transportation costs, covering 25% of maritime shipping expenses and 50% of air freight costs to enhance "competitiveness" of Jordanian products in global markets. //Petra// AO
