21/ UNRWA opens 130 temporary centers in Gaza to provide education to 47,000 children

Amman, March 15 (Petra) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Saturday it had opened 130 temporary learning centers in Gaza, allowing around 47,000 children across the enclave to receive in-person education.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a statement that the agency remains the largest provider of emergency education services and psychosocial support in Gaza. He stressed that education helps restore a sense of hope for children in the strip, aiding their recovery and helping them cope with trauma.

"We have a long way to go in encouraging more children to learn, and the challenges in Gaza are immense. There is no time to waste," Lazzarini said.
